Is the city of edmonton , alberta canad a better city to live than minnepolis, st paul in the us state of minn?

i live close to the minneapolis, st paul are of minnesota, and hopefully plan on moving to edmonton in the next few years. is it more peaceful up their, better jobs, less crime, friendlier people? those canadians that have came down here and met seemed way nicer and more open than most minnesotan, who although can be nice, seem very close minded and materiestics compared to the canadian i have met. please any help by a canadian who has been to both places would be tremendous i have been researching edmonton and it seems like such a beautiful, economical(compared to other canadian cities). open friendly place to live. thanks much, jimy
