Is gorgonzola cheese an acquired taste?

What is the flavour like? Is it like a cheddar which is liked by almost everyone, or is it more like a blue cheese that only few like? I want to put in on a pizza, but I don't really want to buy an entire block and not enjoy it, let alone ruin a pizza with it.
